The Norn and the Asura:

You will be able to enlist the aid of two new races:

The Norn

The Norn is a race of shape-shifting half-giants who dwell in the Far Shiverpeaks.

According to the May 2007 issue of PC Gamer the Norn will get a race-specific skill which allows them to transform into a half-bear form, increasing melee damage and Health.

It is not clear if this skill will be available to Norn NPCs in Eye of the North, playable Norn in Guild Wars 2 or both.

The Asura

The Asura are a subterranean race which originally dwelled in the Depths of Tyria, but were forced into the Tarnished Coast by the forces of the Great Destroyer.

They are diminutive, intelligent, ambitious and arrogant. They have a large subterranean empire, and are magically and technically adept.

It is know that the Asura are able to create golems to fight for them as a skill.

———————————————————————–

Depths of Tyria (Dungeons):

What is known about the Depths of Tyria, is that it’s made up of a network of caves which run underneath and between the three Guild warsknown continents of the world of Tyria.

They are known to be inhabited by Deldrimor Dwarves and Asura. The Depths of Tyria were first hinted at by Moleneaux, and will be entered in act 1 of Guild Wars Eye of the North.

The Depths of Tyria include 18 subterranean “dungeons”.

Thanks to Guild Wars.com for image
Screenshots of the Depths of Tyria feature architecture resembling Ascalon’s Catacombs and the Kurzick architecture (as well as the architecture of unknown origin in Altrumm Ruins and Urgoz’s Warren). The Depths of Tyria also include skull-shaped stone structures similar to those in the Ring of Fire Islands, the Fissure of Woe and the Gate of Torment.

Known names for the Dungeons are:

  • Arachni’s HauntGuild warsGuild wars
  • Battledepths
  • Bloodstone Caves
  • Bogroot Growths
  • Catacombs of Kathandrax
  • Cathedral of Flames
  • Darkrime Delves

Mini Games:

Currently there are two known mini-games in Eye of the North, they are:

The Norn Fighting Tournament

Boost your reputation with the Norn by defeating battle-hungry opponents in gladiator style battles. You enter the tournament solo and fight four random NPCs before fighting the final boss.

The whole thing is clearly based on Street Figher 2.

Guild wars
Dwarven Boxing

Dwarven Boxing is a mini-game that will be introduced in Eye of the North. It will be connected somehow to the Deldrimor Dwarves. A Destroyer is among the opponents. Kilroy Stonekin is known to be involved in Dwarven Boxing, and the player apparently must assist him.

Talking to Kilroy Stonekin in Gunnar’s Hold enables you to begin boxing. He gives you a set of Brass Knuckles, and a series of quests in which you fight various enemies from different lands. Near the end of these quests, you will be given Thunderfist’s Brass Knuckles, a rare pair of inscripable daggers.

The Eye of the North and Hall of Monuments:

The Eye of the North is a tower in the Far Shiverpeaks, which shows visions and plays a significant role in the plot of
Guild Wars Eye of the North. The tower contains the Hall of Monuments.

The Hall of Monuments will allow you to add monuments, and each monument will unlock something, such as an exclusive item or title, for a character on a linked Guild Wars 2 account.

Note: Each of the different sections requires a Monument Tapestry to activate.

Confirmed Guild Wars 2 unlocks:

  • The Monument of Fellowship contains big statues of your unlocked hero companions and pets.
  • The Monument of Devotion shows little statues of your minipets and collectibles.
  • The Monument of Honour shows your titles and accomplishments, including finishing a campaign.
  • The Monument of Valour displays unlocked high-end weapons obtained from the Eye of the North expansion.
  • The Monument of Resilience shows all your ascended armour sets.

Here’s the 10 armors that core professions can get.

Ritualists and Assassins will have 9 armors in there: Elite Luxon, Elite Kurzick, Elite Canthan, Elite Exotic, Elite Imperial, Vabbian, Ancient, Primeval, Obsidian.

Paragons and Dervishes will only have 5 armors in there: Elite Sunspear, Vabbian, Ancient, Primeval, Obsidian.
Guild wars
There is only one input for each Granite Citadel and Marhan’s Grotto, even though you can purchase multiple armors from those locations.

Guild wars Gold
Note: If a character puts a minipet in their HoM, it’ll customise the pet for that character. So don’t borrow any from your friends, otherwise they won’t be very pleased.

Dicussion thread of the HoM is here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s…php?t=10189776

———————————————————————–

New Condition - Cracked Armour (Thanks Guildwiki for Info):

Locations of Interest

The following areas are worth taking a note on your GW:EN travels:

Rabbit Valley:
A place in the northern shiverpeaks where a rabbit tries to lure players into a beautiful place but when players arrive there, they get a surprise. Go there and see for yourself

The Rabbit you follow could be a parody of the killer rabbit in Monthy Python and the Holy Grail.

Gwen’s Garden:

It is located on the West side of the Eye of the North. Be sure to bring Gwen with you. As you approach, two red iris flowers drop. She goes on to say that this is her garden and why it’s important to her.

She says something along the lines of: It’s amazing this garden can grow in such a harsh environment. Her homeland which was destroyed will someday thrive again like this garden. I don’t remember the exact words and it’s scrolled by already.

Known Bugs:

The following bugs have been found in during the preview event:

  • After talking to the third Norn in the third mission of GW:EN Sneak Peek Weekend (the one after encountering the first female Norn in the cinematic), Windows computers will crash and reboot. The client will offer to reconnect and reload the same exact spot, but it crashes and reboots again and again.

Fix: There is no way to get around this except to start the mission all over again.

  • Sometimes when you’re in Kilroy Stonekin’s tournament, you will be knocked down, and forced to return to the outpost; disregarding the “stand up” skill.
  • Those who installed Guild Wars using the Boot Camp Windows XP partition from their Macs will be in for an unpleasant surprise. In mission three, on their way to the Hall of Monuments, the one after viewing the cinematic featuring Jora and the Dwarves, the player’s computer will randomly crash due to a memory dump error before promptly restarting the computer. There is no proposed solution for this bug as of yet.

Note: This bug also occurs not only on Macs but on other PCs as well.

  • Some players using Intel graphics chips have found that after loading Boreal Station, their client now crashes when under graphical stress. This is due to a driver failure (in which the driver either stops or becomes caught in an infinite loop), which requires a full system reboot andGuild wars Gold causes a message stating that the system has recovered from a serious system error. There is no known fix at the time, but keeping movements and camera rotations to a minimum when one’s frame rate is low (during loading, etc.) minimizes the frequency of the error. Reducing some ingame graphics options (F11) can also help. Unlike the “boot camp” error, crashing can occur at virtually any time.
  • When activating the Northen Proof of Duty in Sepulchre of Dragrimmar the game crashes. (You can not get to level 2 in this dungeon because of this bug)
  • If a player had an Eye of the North hero in their party when the sneak peek ended, the slot will be “taken up” despite the hero being locked and unusable until the game’s release. This problem can be solved by going to an area that forces one’s party off (and then mapping back to a city or your Guild Hall), such as most PvP arenas. The Random Arena seems to work best as it sets the party size to 1. This bug has been fixed by a subsequent update.
  • Once reaching level 7 norn (Slayer of Demons) - NO extra points can be added, not just from killing things (expected as per the Sunspear title track), but any quest rewards gained were also not adding to the total (which differs from the Sunspear). I have reported it as I think it is a bug rather than a feature they have installed.
